Welcome to Jacksonville ISD, an exceptional school district big enough to offer incredible opportunities while small enough to know every student by name. We are proud of the tremendous success we’ve had in providing a high-quality student experience across all grade levels.
We value offering our students a wide array of co-curricular opportunities to develop and showcase their talents. This instills desirable character traits for future citizens of Jacksonville, such as leadership, collaboration, grit, resilience, and integrity. Through the JISD dual enrollment program, our students have access to 62 college or post-secondary credits through 20 different courses at no cost. This opportunity gives our students a significant head start in pursuing career pathways. In the 2023-2024 school year, JHS experienced 478 requests for dual enrollment coursework.
Our FFA chapter is among the top 10 in the state based on student membership. Our chapter has a long history of students holding positions at the district, area, state, and national levels.
Our district has maintained a Superior Rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) system since its inception in 2001.
JISD has an outstanding Education Foundation that supports students and staff through scholarships and classroom grants.
33 of our teachers have been recognized in the Teacher Incentive Allotment Program! These educators receive additional compensation ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 each year for five years from the state based on student achievement and criteria.|

Elementary Points of Pride
Fred Douglass Elementary offers a robust dual language program through which students are taught literacy and content in two languages. This fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, enhanced awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity, and high levels of academic achievement!
The JISD Applied Learning Community at East Side Elementary features purpose-based learning that encourages students to learn both independently and as team members in a stimulating environment. This prepares them to be successful global citizens!
West Side Elementary is a Leader in Me campus! It’s a whole-school transformation process that teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of empowerment where each child has the opportunity to be a leader.
The STEM Initiative at Joe Wright Elementary encompasses critical thinking, analysis, and collaboration that integrates the processes and concepts of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in real-world contexts!
